UK Unveils New Policies to Bolster AI, Quantum Computing with Funding and Talent Drive

The UK government has introduced a series of new policies to significantly boost support for emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing. On June 22, it announced the establishment of a “Global Talent Fund” with an investment of £54 million to attract world-leading researchers to the UK. A “Global Talent Taskforce” was also set up, dedicated to recruiting scientists, engineers, and creative talents—with a special focus on key areas like AI and green technology—and encouraging them to innovate and develop long-term in the UK.


At the same time, the UK announced that it will invest more than £500 million over the next four years in quantum computing technologies with “transformative potential.” The funds will be used to build five research centers, promoting breakthroughs in fields such as communication security, medical imaging, and advanced materials. This investment will be advanced in collaboration with the National Quantum Computing Centre, aiming to strengthen the UK’s sovereign technological capabilities and ensure national security.

From talent introduction to technology investment, the UK government is accelerating its  in key technological frontiers. It is working to create an open, efficient, and dynamic research ecosystem, striving to gain the initiative in the next technological revolution and consolidate its position as a global technological power.
